No Exit - Movie Review

No Exit: Directed by Damien Power

SYNOPSIS: Stranded at an isolated highway rest stop in the mountains during a blizzard, a college student discovers a kidnapped child hidden in a car belonging to one of the people inside the building, which sets her on a terrifying life-or-death struggle to discover who among them is the kidnapper. This was an incredibly sour time watching a film.

When it comes down to it, No Exit is a mixed bag. There is some good suspense, some brutal horror elements and a nice performance from Havana Rose Liu. I think the use of only one location, while sometimes a schtick, was executed well enough. Unfortunately, the other performances are dull, the writing is highly predictable and the third act is executed so poorly. The other thing that killed the film for me was the lack of emotional value. The writing tries to set up emotion for our main character, but it’s so under-developed that the ending does nothing for me. A sour experience overall and a film that does nothing to push the boundaries.
